Before installation

  • Review the complete guide before attempting to install.
  • Validate your shower measurements for compatibility.
  • Make sure package contents are complete. Do not begin installation if any component is damaged, has a manufacturing issue, or is missing.
  • Observe local building and plumbing codes.
  • Prepare and waterproof the shower area, including stud supports for accessories.
  • Indoor use only. Do not install in direct sunlight.

Required for installation (not included)

Safety goggles, measuring tape, utility knife, leveling tools, 1/4"–3/8" notch trowel, putty knife, hole saws, rubber mallet, bath silicone sealant, suction cups, construction adhesive (polyurethane), and cargo bars or 2x4s for bracing.

Before installing walls

  • Prepare stud supports for accessories such as shower doors, grab bars, and shower seats.
  • Install proper waterproofing over the studs: cement-based backer board or moisture-resistant gypsum, with waterproofing membrane on all seams.
  • The shower floor must be fully installed before starting the walls.

Step 1: Waterproofing

Prepare and waterproof the shower wall area following best practices, including around the shower head and valve. Waterproofing products are not included.

Step 2: Validate your space

  • Identify the wall sequence and the alignment of the wall pattern for your kit.
  • Cover the base before installing walls to prevent problems with dried thinset.

Step 3: Shower head and valve cutouts

Identify which wall needs the shower head and valve openings. Apply painter's tape to prevent chipping and cut with the decor side up. Account for the wall thickness when measuring hole locations.

Step 4: Adhesive for the first wall

  • Thinset: apply in a vertical pattern over the wall section. Applying thinset to the back of the panel is also recommended for proper adhesion.
  • Construction adhesive: apply thick beads in a straight pattern, 4"–6" apart.
  • Do not apply thinset or adhesive to the waterproofing flange attached to the CASTICO base.

Step 5: Install the first wall

Install the walls in the correct sequence with the arrows pointing up. After installing each wall, wipe off excess thinset with a damp rag before it dries.

Step 6: Adhesive for the second wall

Apply adhesive to the second wall section the same way. Applying thinset to the back of the panel is recommended.

Step 7: Install the side wall

Install the second wall so its edge overlaps the first wall at the corner joint (for the Corner Round kit, wall B is installed over wall C). Align the corner joint to match the wall pattern. Geometric patterns may need to be shimmed up to 1/16" for alignment.

Step 8: Finishing

Apply bath silicone sealant to all wall seams to waterproof them. Painter's tape 1/8" from the edge helps keep the bead clean.

Step 9: Support bars

Use 2x4 lumber or load bars to apply pressure to the walls until the adhesive cures.

Step 10: Accessories

Let the walls cure for 24 hours before using the shower or installing accessories. Seal any perforations in the walls or base with silicone.

Care and maintenance

Clean with neutral soap, a foaming shower and tile cleaner, or a calcium, lime and rust remover, using a cotton knit rag or plastic fiber scrub brush. A water-based impregnator sealer is recommended for long-term care. Do not use solvents, abrasive products, direct household bleach, or scouring tools.
