Shower Niche Installation Guide

Before installation

  • We recommend installing the niche after the wall panels are installed in the alcove. Cutting panels while unsupported can damage them, and transporting panels after they have been cut can also cause damage because the cut weakens them.
  • Plan the niche location before installing the alcove so the stud placement aligns with the cutout. Make sure there is support or bracing behind the opening.

Cutout dimensions

The printed template marks a cutout of 313 mm x 618 mm (12 5/16" x 24 3/8"). The center lines on the template are guides only. Do not cut along them.

Step 1: Position the template

Place the template on the wall panel at the desired location and secure it with painter's tape.

Step 2: Prep and drill

Drill 3/8" holes at all four corners of the cutout area.

Step 3: Cut the wall opening

Using an angle grinder or tile saw with a blade designed for tile, cut along the inside of the dotted line. For cleaner corners, stop short of each corner and finish the cut with an oscillating multi-tool.

Step 4: Finishing

Remove the film from the double-sided tape and install the niche with firm, even pressure. Apply silicone around the entire perimeter and along the edges of the niche to seal it and prevent water leakage.

Optional inserts

To add inserts, cut the leftover panel cutout into two sections and adhere each to the niche with silicone, sealing around the edges:

  • A1: 295 mm x 232 mm (11 5/8" x 9 1/8")
  • A2: 295 mm x 349 mm (11 5/8" x 13 3/4")

Care

Clean with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners. Do not use solvents, abrasive products, direct household bleach, or scouring tools. Surface appearance may be affected by water conditions and cleaning methods over time.

Removal

To remove the niche without damaging the wall, heat the adhesive with a hair dryer to soften the tape, then gently cut through the adhesive with a utility knife and remove the niche carefully.

Shower accessories, including wall niches, are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use for five (5) years. The warranty applies only to the original purchaser of products bought from CASTICO or an authorized retailer and is not transferable.

It does not cover improper installation, misuse or physical damage, modifications, exposure to harsh chemicals, water quality issues (including hard water or high mineral content), or damage from abrasive or improper cleaning. It is limited to repair or replacement of the product and does not include labor, installation, or transportation costs.
