Before installation
- Review the complete guide before attempting to install.
- Validate your shower measurements for compatibility.
- Make sure package contents are complete. Do not install if any parts are missing or damaged.
- Observe local building and plumbing codes.
- Prepare, level, and waterproof the shower area, and prepare the drain area for your model.
- Do not discard the box lid. It is used in Step 12.
Package contents
- Shower pan base (A)
- 5" x 5" drain cover (B)
- Waterproofing flange kit: two 36" flanges (C1, C2) and 8 screws (C4)
Flange color may vary due to the packaging process.
Required for installation (not included)
2" shower drain (compatible with standard 2" drains for pre-formed bases), rubber mallet, safety goggles, measuring tape, construction adhesive (polyurethane) or polymer-modified thinset mortar, cutter, leveling tools, notch trowel, putty knife, and clear bath silicone sealant.
Warning: Standard (unmodified) thinset mortar is not suitable for this product. Use only adhesives approved for non-porous stone surfaces, such as polyurethane construction adhesive or polymer-modified thinset. Follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions for substrate prep, application, coverage, open time, working time, and curing. Failure to do so can cause poor bond strength or loss of adhesion, and may void the warranty.

Step 1: Know your space
Prepare the shower area according to the drain location of your base model.
Step 2: Subfloor preparation
The subfloor must be structurally sound, level, and fully supported. Floor joists must be properly sized and reinforced so the subfloor does not flex, since movement or deflection may crack the shower base.
- If the subfloor is not level, level it with leveling thinset or leveling concrete and check level.
- Do not install directly on the studs.
Step 3: Confirm the space
When measuring the shower space, account for the waterproofing flange installed on the base.
Step 4: Drain connection
Install only the drain body (AA5) at this stage. Do not install the metal drain cover (AA1) that comes with the drain. The base uses its own 5" x 5" drain cover.
Important: Leave a maximum 7" x 7" clear opening around the drain body. Fill the rest of the area with mortar, shims, blocking, or other support so the base is continuously supported. Large unsupported voids create stress points that can crack the base.
Step 5: Flange preparation
- C2 must be 3/16" longer than the width of the base.
- Do not cut the notched edges of C1 and C2.
Step 6: Flange fit
C2 should extend 3/16" past the edge so it joins the notched C1 profile. Butt-join the notched end of C1 to C2 to form a 90-degree joint.
Step 7: Flange application
- Install the flanges 1/4" from the top edge of the base.
- Place screws 2" from the edges, then distribute the rest evenly.
- Install 4 screws each on C1 and C2.
Step 8: Adhesive application
Adhere the base to a level subfloor with construction adhesive (polyurethane) or polymer-modified thinset.
- Construction adhesive: apply continuous 3/4" diameter beads in straight lines, 4" apart. The first and last beads must be 1" from the edges.
- Thinset: apply and level to the trowel thickness specified by the manufacturer. Back-butter the base with thinset for proper adhesion to the substrate.
Step 9: Set the base
Set the base, measure level on the flat edges, and use a rubber mallet to adjust as needed. Clean excess adhesive with a damp sponge before it dries. Begin the drain connection (Step 10) before the adhesive cures.
Step 10: Drain connection
Install the drain barrel (AA2) with silicone so its top sits flush against the base. Clean off excess silicone and allow it to cure per the manufacturer's instructions.
Step 11: Waterproof the flange edges (critical)
Apply a silicone bead between:
- The flange and the wall
- The flange and the base
- The vertical flange corner joint
Painter's tape 1/8" from the edge catches excess silicone.
Do not nail or glue the waterproofing flange to the wall. Floor settling can cause problems with the installation.
Step 12: Prepare for wall installation
Once the adhesive and silicone have cured, cover the base with the box lid before continuing with wall installation.
Step 13: Drain cover
Install the drain cover once the shower renovation is complete.
Care and maintenance
Clean with neutral soap. Do not use solvents, abrasive products, direct household bleach, or scouring tools.
