What is Solid composite stone?
Solid Composite Stone is an engineered stone material made using CASTICO’s proprietary formula, combining natural crushed stone minerals, including quartz, marble, and granite, with resin to create a solid, high-performance surface.
Our manufacturing process infuses the design into the surface of the material, creating the depth and appearance of natural stone rather than simply applying a printed surface layer. The veining is also designed to flow from panel to panel, creating a more continuous, finished look across the shower.
The result is a material that is:
- Durable for everyday shower use
- Non-porous, helping create an easy-to-maintain, waterproof surface
- Lightweight and easy to handle compared with many traditional stone products
- Solid through its full thickness, rather than a decorative layer applied over a substrate
Solid Composite Stone also allows us to create large-format shower panels that cover more area with fewer pieces, helping simplify installation compared with installing hundreds of individual tiles, while avoiding the size and bulk of a one-piece prefabricated shower insert.
And because the panels can be cut and customized on site, they can be fitted to your shower space and cut around windows, niches, plumbing fixtures, and other features.
The result is the look and feel of stone with the flexibility of a system designed to make shower installation faster, cleaner, and more customizable.
Surface coating
Bases carry a ceramic coating. This affects two things worth knowing:
• Tile will not reliably adhere to the base surface, so bases should not be tiled over. Bases are also pre-sloped, so tiling over one would defeat the drainage design.
• Paint will not adhere unless the coating is removed first.
